Tracking mountain lions with GPS

I couldn’t resist posting this story about tracking mountain lions with GPS. I’ve been fascinated with these creatures for many years. When I lived in North Carolina, there were occasional, but never verified, reports of "panthers" in the Great Smokies and Blue Ridge mountains. I moved to Northern California nearly a decade ago and have since seen seven of these big cats! (Sorry, they are faster than bears, so I have no photos.) My wife and I mountain bike way back and venture into very isolated places; most encounters have been fleeting, but one mountain lion checked us out for a good five minutes. That one was pretty scary!
