As predicted this past June, Magellan is releasing an alternative version of the eXplorist 500, the Magellan eXplorist 500 LE. It is being billed as "the first color handheld product in its class to offer a choice of AAA batteries or a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack." Otherwise, as far as I can tell, this GPS receiver is identical to the eXplorist 500.
