Consumer Reports best GPS gift

Consumer Reports’ December issue has the Garmin StreetPilot i5 listed as one of their best gifts in the $101 to $350 category. We previously covered Consumer Reports ratings of GPS receivers, where the i5 was listed as a best buy. Amazon currently has the i5 priced at $325.99. For that you get a color (non-touch) screen and pre-loaded maps of the U.S. and Canada.

We think the i5 is a fine unit, but you can get a touch-screen interface by stepping up to the Garmin StreetPilot c330. The current Amazon price on the c330 is $371.99, which is a heck of a deal considering that the original retail price was $964.99.
