TopoFusion goes Pro

UPDATE: Check out ten reasons TopoFusion rocks.

Longtime GPS Tracklog readers who are into backcountry adventure may know that I’m a big fan of TopoFusion. Well, Alan and Scott Morris have ramped things up a bit with the release of TopoFusion Pro. Among the new features are:

  • A faster display engine
  • The ability to add your own maps and view them transparently (it looks like these are limited to .jpg, .png and .bmp file types).
  • PhotoFusion improvements (thumbnails appear on the map; mouse over enlarges them)
  • Shapefile export

This is a free upgrade for current registered users. The demo, available free to all, is fully functional. It merely adds the word "demo" over portions of the map.

I’ve only played with it a little bit so far. The 3-D effects seem to be much smoother. If you try it out, let me know what you think.
