I found the answers I was looking for. It appears the problem with the Zumo series (450, 550, 660) is the battery. Even though they (Garmin) will not admit it, all the Zumo series have a very high battery failure rate. It seems that at $800 to $1,000 GPS doesn't buy a battery that lasts longer that 3 to 4 months.
