• The Nokia N810 is an Internet tablet with integrated GPS. $479 with a 4.13" screen. Watch out Garmin!
• Technical-Itch reviews the Navman N40i.
• Navigon has a $50 rebate on the Navigon 7100 and 5100.
• There is good info on buying blank micro-SD cards for Garmin handhelds in this Groundspeak thread.
• Mio unveils a unit with a 7" screen, but there is no indication it will ever make it to the U.S.

TomTom

• Get Map Share on your TomTom ONE for free.
• TomTom continues to use Map Share for a marketing push.
• TomTom comes to New Zealand.

• The Apple iPhone is now supported on the TomTom GO 510, 910 and 720.

• Microsoft updates Live Search Mobile.
• Verizon launches AAA Mobile.

GPS Software

• SnowRanger has added a Northeast set to its Garmin and Magellan compatible ski resort maps.
• Garmin has posted a new beta version of its POI Loader for Mac.
• Garmin has posted a firmware update for the eTrex, Camo and Summit.
• A Japanese corporation introduces a map format that better integrates 2D and 3D.

Virtual globes

• The Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail in Google Earth.
• MapQuest betas its next generation mapping site. Via BlinkGeo.
• View Google Maps in Firefox in full screen mode with this Greasemonkey script. Via Free Geography Tools.
• Business reviews come to Google Earth.
• Microsoft Virtual Earth now supports KML.

Miscellany

• GPS devices can cut greenhouse emissions.
• Here’s a nice reminder that there is occasionally some logic behind how streets are named. In my town, east-west streets are all named for plants.
