Free upgrade for nuvi 700 series to MSN Direct v2
Last week, I reported about MSN Direct version 2, which offers several new features, including the ability to send a location wirelessly from a web browser to your nuvi. Version 2 is included with the upcoming nuvi 780 and 880, and is an option on the nuvi 850 and 5000.
The big news today comes from GpsPasSion, which is reporting that nuvi 700 series owners, with the optional MSN Direct GDB50 receiver, can use version 2 services by upgrading their firmware. All the details are in this thread, which reports that you can plan and send routes as well.
The optional MSN Direct GDB 50 receiver for the nuvi 700 series is available from GPSNow.
Sorry nuvi 680 and StreetPIlot c580 owners; this won’t work for you.
