Anyone trying to decide between a high-end TomTom and a Garmin might want to check out this 8,000 mile road trip comparing the nuvi 780 and GO 930. I’ll be very interested to see their conclusions at the end of the journey.

UPDATE: Read my TomTom GO 930 review.

And yes, that is a nuvi 660 and TomTom 730 in the photo. I didn’t want to rip off GpsPasSion’s images and hey, it’s what I had on hand.

I have a TomTom GO 930 and a Garmin 1490lmt. I bought the garmin for the larger screen size. That is the only feature I like compared to the TomTom. The only important feature of a GPS is the route selection between point A and point B. The Tomtom does this with remarkable accuracy. I wish the garmin did as well. I just completed a trip from Philly to San Francisco and the TomTom wins the most points. To clarify, on a scale of 1 to 100, The Tomtom is a 95 and the Garmin is a 70.
