UPDATE: Read my Garmin nuvi 850 review and Garmin nuvi 880 review.

I’ve just been informed that one of my favorite vendors, GPSNow, has received a shipment of the Garmin nuvi 850. The price is $799.99 including FREE FedEx Priority Overnight shipping.

The nuvi 850 is identical to the nuvi 880, except that the 850 lacks Bluetooth and an MSN receiver. You can always add an MSN receiver to the 850 though, which gets you a year of service rather than the three months included with the 880.

I’ve actually had an 880 in hand for a few days and hope to post a full review by early next week. I don’t want to go into too much detail here, but I will say that the voice recognition works, and it works better than anything on the market. Garmin has a real winner with the 800 series.

It will probably be another week or so before we’ll see the nuvi 880 hitting the market.

One last thing…don’t expect a big price break on these beauties anytime soon, as Garmin has invoked the dreaded minimum resale price on dealers.

Get the Garmin nuvi 850 from GPSNow.
