But the newer 700 and 800 series (especially the 7x5 and 8x5 models) have better firmware for faster satellite lock, so the difference may be a wash. I think all nuvis power on automatically when the car starts up, as long as the power lead is attached. That positioning may or may not cause problems with reception.
