Best Buy to produce connected GPS with Google local search

Insignia

UPDATE: Read my full Insignia NS-CNV10 review.

Best Buy will launch their first house label GPS units on October 19, under their Insignia brand. But the big news is that these devices will sport a cellular connection and local Google search, as well as real-time traffic.

Priced at $499 for the 4.3" Insignia NS-CNV20 and $399 for the 3.5" NS-CNV10, the PNDs will carry no service fees for the first year.

Insignia GPS – Connected Search NS-CNV20 and NS-CNV10

Best Buy is letting go a pair of pretty advanced GPS units that have connected search via Google. Hum, was that the long fabled Magellan 5340 connected unit that never made it to market? Or is that still coming?…

    Just bought the NS-CNV10
    Paid 199.00 at Best Buy
It is ok, it would never be worth 399.00
The feature that allows you to use google maps from your personal computer and then send the directions to the gps, works less than 20 percent of the time. I took my first one back today because of this, and now the second one is doing the same thing. Ireceive the e-mail to the gps, but it says “no such address”, etc., or various error messages. However the directions are clear on my pc computer screen, and I am using very simple real addresses. I have e-mailed approx. 30 google driving directions to this gps, and although I received all 30 of the e-mails, only 4 of the 30 were able to calculate the address. I called tech services at insignia. Barely spoke English, difficult to understand, no help there. I used it locally to navigate and it was very accurate.

Thanks for sharing. I haven’t been that impressed either.
