An unannounced Garmin nuvi has debuted; the Garmin nuvi 285WT, which is only available at Best Buy, at least for the time being. This is the 2×5T series version of the 785T, if that makes any sense. Let me clarify…
The nuvi 285WT appears to be identical to the 265WT, except that that it doesn't offer NAVTEQ lifetime traffic. Instead, it comes with a three month trial subscription to MSN Direct. The advantages are that traffic coverage is offered for more cities, and you get extras like gas prices and weather, as well as the "Send to GPS" feature. But then you're stuck with an annual subscription fee too.
There seems to be some confusion on the Best Buy site as to whether this is the 285W or the 285WT. We're going with the latter, as cited by reviewers, and consistent with the only other latest generation widescreen 2×5. Whew boy, this sure does get confusing!
One other thing; it seems this unit isn't garnering the stellar reviews of most nuvis, with owners complaining about poor battery life and a touch screen that seems to be a fingerprint magnet.
my newly purchased 285 wt dose not recognize the streets in my neighborhood. This area has been developed in excess of 5 years. How can I update??

My GPS was working fine, and all of the sudden it turns off everytime I try turning it on..
Can anyone help me with this issue?
Try updating the firmware.
If that doesn’t help, backup any favorites and do a hard reset.
