Garmin nuvifone clears FCC – details revealed
December 14, 2008 by Rich Owings

The folks at Engadget reported today that the long-awaited nuvifone cleared the FCC. We dug a little further and found a couple of interesting things in the documentation. That Note 6 referenced above says:
"This 15.0 x 3.5 mm field to contain the AT&T SKU number"
Which would seem to confirm AT&T as a carrier — no big surprise there. We also noticed that the label says "Garmin nuvifone G60," so perhaps we have a model number now too. Not quite as bad as reading tea leaves, but hey, it's Sunday night and I'm bored.

And so once again the Canadians are left out. No AT+T in Canada, and I bet it will be a slow adoption by Rogers, with the usual charges.
No bitterness in the north.
I’m interested to see how this GPS Phone concept works. From the sound of things, it’ll be more GPS over Phone. Garmin has a good reputation with making GPS devices and receivers, so it’ll be interesting to see how they handle phone portion of this.
