My "Waypoints" link roundup has mainly moved to Twitter, but here are a few items from this week, some of which might have warranted their own post if I would have had the time:
Garmin custom maps feature for the Colorado, Dakota and Oregon series comes out of beta – You can now add aerial photos, park maps and USGS topos to your Garmin. While its not exactly a “high resolution” aerial photo, I’ve included a screen shot from a geocaching expedition yesterday. You can read about the process for creating these in more detail in my previous posts on the topic. - TomTom introduces their own Cash for Clunkers program – Trade in your old GPS – any brand – for a new TomTom.
- TomTom car kit for iPod touch – This is a new car kit forthcoming from TomTom, designed specifically for the iPod touch. It appears that the Magellan mount adjusts so as to accommodate either the iPhone or iPod touch.
- Droid one touch navigation shortcut tip – As long as I’m talking mobile:
1. Go to the Home Screen
2. Press and hold in open space
3. Touch Shortcuts
4. Touch Directions
(adapted from Simply Droid) - Holiday GPS deals – I’ve already posted quite a few of these over at my GPS Deals site. Check them out!
