		<description>There are some older units that have an external FM antenna that you string across the windshield, but it&#039;s worse! I believe some of the newer, connected units receive data via cellular modem though, which is built into the device. These include the TomTom LIVE series and the Garmin nuvi 1690.</description>

		<description>Are there any GPS receivers from any manufacturers that do not have to be plugged into power to get traffic updates?  I assumed the antenna was embedded in the unit itself until I was doing research on Garmins with free traffic and found out you only get traffic updates when plugged in.  That disappointed me.

I guess I&#039;m in a minority, as I use my PND on battery power most of the time because it is inconvenient to plug in.</description>
