TomTom has been transitioning from TomTom HOME to MyTomTom, which is the desktop manager for the newest TomToms, such as the GO 2505TM. Unfortunately, early adopters have been stuck with devices that can’t get the latest map guarantee, Map Share corrections, etc. Well today, TomTom is taking a big step towards making that right. You can read about it all here, but they are promising 2×05 map updates in the next few days (and I’ve seen one report that they are already rolling out).
Of course, this still leaves owners without the ability to grab Map Share corrections, perform backups, purchase maps for other countries, download voices, etc., although they promise these features in the “near future.”

When map updates were offered for a short period back in December there were numerous reports of the update bricking European units. This one has now been getting failure reports from at least some VIA120 owners. TomTom is reportedly aware and advising owners of that model to wait another week to avoid a potential “no maps found” issue, essentially making the pnd useless.
Ruh Roh!
