TomTom has announced that their HD Traffic service is now available for all LIVE models in the US, bringing it to the GO 740 LIVE and XL 340 LIVE, in addition to the newly released GO 2535 M LIVE. They also announced a reduction in the annual subscription fee from $119.95 to $59.95 per year.

Until now, TomTom HD Traffic was only available on the recently released GO 2535 M LIVE. Additionally, TomTom announced that the new annual subscription fee for LIVE Services will be offered at the new price of $59.95 per year, previously offered at $119.95.

I’ve got the 740 and the new price for LIVE services is available. There is now only a yearly subscription – the 6 month and monthly options are no longer offered. I haven’t decided whether to subscribe, but the new price point is certainly more attractive than the old one.
Sucks that they pulled those options huh? Maybe they don’t have confidence that people would renew!
I have a short work commute so I’m really not the target audience for an annual subscription. But I do drive several long trips a year, and the monthly option is definitely missed for those occasions.
On the other hand, $5 a month is the price of a Subway foot long sandwich, so I guess it depends on your priorities. Decisions, decisions.
