Peak.AR icon(iTunes link) is a free augmented reality app that looks much better. There’s a screenshot at the top of this post (note that both English and German languages are supported). It’s limited to the iPhone now, but an Android app is expected by the end of February.

Magellan rolls out iPhone app; Droid users left in dust

Magellan-iPhone-app The Magellan RoadMate iPhone appicon (iTunes link) was introduced this weekend. It includes text-to-speech, lane assist and in-app music controls, and runs $79.99. Magellan also says they have a car kit coming (pic below) that has an integrated GPS receiver and will accommodate the iPhone or iPod touch.

NAVIGON MobileNavigator app for iPhone

NAVIGON-iPhone-app The first turn-by-turn iPhone navigation app for North America featuring on-board maps has been released by NAVIGON. Their MobileNavigator application differs from TeleNav’s AT&T Navigator in two very important ways:

  • By having maps on-board, you still have navigation when you leave AT&T’s coverage area
  • Mobile Navigator is available for a flat fee ($69.99 until August 15, $99.99 after that) whereas AT&T’s sticks you with a monthly fee of $9.99

TomTom comes to the iPhone

A TomTom iPhone application and accessory kit was just announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. Both Engadget and Gizmodo are covering the event live today, along with many others, and we’ve grabbed a few  screenshots from the former to share. I’ll post more info once we have it.
