Magellan has apparently swung a deal with ALK Technologies, makers of a couple of truck navigation products, PCMiler and CoPilot Truck. These have previously only been available for laptops and some cell phones, but the CoPilot Truck navigation software can now be ported to the Magellan RoadMate 1470 and the seven-inch RoadMate 1700.
This gives Magellan an advantage over the 4.3” Garmin nuvi 465T as far as screen size goes; the two compatible Magellan units have 4.7” and 7” screens.
is one of several new models introduced by the company in the spring of 2009. This 4.7” touch-screen unit offers Magellan’s new One Touch interface, AAA TourBook, Highway Lane Assist, exit POIs and multi-destination routing.
