I don’t like Waze. In fact, I’m not a huge fan of navigating with my smartphone at all and I wouldn’t normally even think about suggesting it to anyone. But, I mean, you read the headline, right? Who doesn’t want to get directions from Schwarzenegger in his most famous role as a robot assassin from the future? I mean, I don’t think even I could say no to that.
Here’s a peek of what it sounds like to have the Terminator as your guide:
Like I said; who could say no to that? I imagine it’d get really old after a day or two, but since Waze is free to download, it’s totally worth it. Maybe just once.
If you decide to try it, I’d suggest having a passenger use it and only while driving around a familiar area (because, let’s be honest, you probably don’t want to rely on Waze if you’re lost). The voice packs via Waze can all be selected from within the app settings and I believe they require an additional download, so you’ll want to hook your phone to Wifi and download it before you head out for a drive.
The Terminator voice guidance is a promotional stunt by Waze and the makers of the new movie, “Terminator: Genysis” which is slated to come out in July. Voice options in Waze periodically switch, so I imagine that it will only be available for a month or so before it’s gone for good.
Happy driving!
