TomTom, the dutch-based navigation company, has announced a new partnership with Fiat on their newest automobile, the Fiat 500X. The new Fiat, which is expected to ship in Europe in 2015, will feature TomTom’s Uconnect infotainment system, which will include TomTom Traffic, TomTom Speed Cameras, TomTom Weather and TomTom Places.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Fiat,” said Jan-Maarten de Vries, VP Automotive, TomTom. “By adding TomTom’s LIVE services and software including accurate traffic information, the latest road closure information and better routes, Fiat empowers drivers with more advanced knowledge of the road ahead, to help make journeys faster.”
The new Fiat 500X Uconnect Radio Nav system will be equipped with TomTom’s full line of connected navigation technology on every journey. Drivers will benefit from faster routes based on TomTom’s superior routing engine, which uses both weather and traffic information to map the fastest route, and highly accurate traffic service, which receives over 100 million kilometers of real-time traffic measurements every day.
TomTom is not a UK based company but Dutch 😉
Wow, I don’t even know where my brain was. It is corrected. Thanks for catching that!
It looks like new TomTom models are coming next year as they’ve dropped their draws on pricing.
TomTom uses weather data in determining a route?
I’ve never heard that before.
It’s still pretty new. They started as of the end of October. Here’s the link to our article from when they announced it. I haven’t had the chance to see if it routes better or not.
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that anywhere before this. TomTom innovating again.
Fiat is being more and more technologically driven, proud to have it as my main Car 🙂
