As part of the International CES Conference taking place this week, Magellan has introduced several new GPS devices in their RoadMate line, including three for personal use and two for commercial trucking. None of the units are available yet, but the personal ones actually look pretty nice. Here’s the information Magellan gave me:
Personal GPS Units
Magellan’s new 5 inch RoadMate units are expected to be available sometime in March. All three units will come with:
- 3D renderings of buildings and landmarks to help users get a better feel for their location
- lifetime map updates
- traffic camera alerts
- 7 million pre-loaded POIs
- multi-destination routing
- Junction View to help stay in the right lane
- SmartDetour to help find your way around construction
- OneTouch Favorites Menu where you can save and navigate to and from common destinations
The available units include: Roadmate 5322-LM ($149.99), RoadMate 5330T-LM ($159.99) which includes all of the above as well as real-time traffic alerts, and the RoadMate 5375T-LMB ($199.99) which includes all of the above as well as portrait viewing mode, real-time traffic alerts and Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and other features.
Commercial Trucking GPS Units
Without spending too much time on it, Magellan also has released information on the RoadMate RC9485T-LMB, the newest commercial trucking GPS navigation unit. Measuring at 7 inches, this unit is optimized for commercial truck drivers with an extra loud speaker, customizable truck routes based on vehicle profile, multiple drive rlog-in for recording driver information (like driving status, hours and state milage), as well as Junction View and highway lane assist.
Much like the commercial RoadMate, this unit comes with lifetime traffic alerts, free lifetime map updates, bluetooth connectivity and provides access to the Magellan SmartGPS Ecocloud, which provides real-time fuel pricing information, truck speed limite warnings, IP traffic and weather alerts. The Magellan RoadMate RC9485T-LMB is expected to be available sometime in the first quarter of this year and will cost $299.99.
