Garmin enables POI feedback for latest nuvi series

Garmin-nuvi-POI-rating This morning I saw that Garmin had rolled out new firmware for the nuvi 12xx, 13xx and 14xx series. I wasn’t too excited until this caught my eye:

  • Added ability to provide star ratings for built in Points of Interest

And sure enough, you can now give feedback on POIs. In addition to providing a star rating you can also report an error and have the item removed from future searches. I wonder how long it will be before we see map/road error reporting, ala TomTom’s Map Share.

Here’s what the process looks like, including screenshots for error reporting:

There’s no option for reporting a missing POI, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that coming. Garmin often seems to wade into these things before rolling out a full-featured version of a new feature. Perhaps they are testing the waters. Maybe we’ll see a more robust version in the next nuvi series.

Comments

  1. Would be nice to see this on 2×5 models. There’s a few gas stations around here that have disappeared plus most 7-elevens don’t sell gas around here. Don’t want tourists to have a bad experience running out of gas!

  2. The New York Botanical Garden does not come up on search for location on my nuvi 3590.
