UPDATE: Read my hands on TomTom XL 340-S LIVE review

TomTom has unveiled a new, mid-range connected GPS navigator, the TomTom XL 340S LIVE . This looks like a slightly stripped-down version of the GO 740 LIVE, minus Bluetooth and voice commands.

It will include Advanced Lane Guidance, IQ Routes, Google local search, live traffic updates, fuel prices and weather services. The XL 340S LIVE comes preloaded with maps of the US, Canada and Mexico and 7 million points of interest.

According to Amazon, the XL 340S LIVE is expected to be available by early November. Priced at $299.99, the TomTom XL 340S LIVE will come with a three-month trial subscription to LIVE services. It will be interesting to see how this competes with Garmin’s more aggressive subscription pricing on their nuvi 1690.
