TomTom finally brings Map Share to new models

Ah, the marketing folks are at it again. All over the Web this morning, you can find the headline “TomTom offers free daily map changes on all devices.” Sounds great, huh? The problem is that TomTom has been advertising Map Share as a feature on their newer devices ever since they came out.

If you dig around, you’ll find this information on their website, referencing the now functioning feature:

From the end of June, Free Daily Map Changes from the Map Share community will also become available for the following devices:

  • GO LIVE Top Gear Edition
  • GO (LIVE) 2000 series
  • VIA series

But their marketing material has shown Map Share as a feature ever since these models were introduced. Today’s announcement means that devices using the My TomTom application are finally able to access this feature.

Here’s TomTom’s news release from this morning; file under spin.
