Garmin has announced that it has added a new device to the Approach line of golfing GPS devices. The new Approach G30 is the most recent in the line but, unlike previous devices, is not a watch but rather a small clip-on device that can be easily attached to a golfer’s bag, waist, cart, or wherever else. The small 2.3 inch color touchscreen allows users to view a variety of statistics and game information to help give golfers a competitive advantage and better understanding of their game.
Much like other Garmin Approach devices, the G30 comes preloaded wiht 40,000 courses around the world and free map updates so that users can always have the most accurate and up-to-date information. Other features include:
- Green View
- Touch Targeting
- Sunlight-readable touchscreen
- Big Numbers Mode, designed to make it easy to read yardages on the go
- High-sensitivity GPS
- Compatibility with Garmin TruSwing analyzer (sold separately)
- Smart connected features, which will show calls, texts, and notifications right on the screen
- Tracks scores for up to 4 players
- Track in-depth stats and provide overall scores
The device is expected to gain around 15 hours battery life between charges and, in order to accommodate all of the possibilities when on the green, is waterproof with an IPX7 rating against water.
With the Approach G30, we were able to pack a ton of features into a streamlined device,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales in a press release. “The color touchscreen combined with Touch Targeting, Green View and stat tracking, will give users a competitive advantage no matter what course they play.”
The Garmin Approach G30 is available now at Garmin’s website and select retailers. It is priced at $249.99. For more information, visit the Garmin website.
