I just picked up this GPS after playing with a 550. No comparison — they’ve crippled the 550 and the 550 runs almost the same price. The reason I got the World Edition vs. US/Canada model is that this comes with 4GB of memory, the US/CDN one only has 2GB. Doesn’t seem to be a huge difference until you start to load newer maps. The current TeleAtlas TomTom maps for US/CDN won’t fit in its entirety on a 2GB Tomtom. Maybe I’ll use the Euro maps some day, but I’ll definitely use the extra memory today.

it sounds like the XXL 540 WTE is better for because of the 4GB (why they don’t come with a micro sd slot-i still can’t figure out) But does anyone know if the World Edition has Live Traffic and map updates? would it give me the latest traffic in United States? please reply

It comes in a basic edition and one with lifetime maps and traffic. You’re looking for the XL 540TM WTE. And yes, the traffic will work in the US.

    Does this has walking/biking options?
