TomTom Cardio GPS watch clears FCC

TomTom Cardio GPS watchLooks like TomTom is coming up with a new sportwatch, the TomTom Cardio GPS watch according to their FCC filing.

We can’t surmise too much from the posted documents, although we can tell you it has Bluetooth 4.0. And with a name like this, we’re wondering if it doesn’t include an optical heart rate monitor. If that’s the case, and it hits shelves soon, they would probably beat Garmin to market with an optical heart rate sensor-equipped watch.

Oh, and that 5 ATM on the label? Apparently that means it’s waterproof or water-resistant to 50 meters…

A watch with this level of resistance is wearable around household sinks, while playing sports and while swimming in shallow water. Do not wear it while bathing, snorkeling or scuba diving.

Do any of you know if ATM ratings are less strenuous than IPX waterproof tests? From what I can gather, the new TomTom can handle your sweat or running in a light rain, but it may not be designed for swimming.
