Other than swimming pools and grilling outside, one of the first things that I think about when I think about summer is vacations and, more importantly, road trips. There’s nothing quite like going on a road trip with friends or family to discover new places and generally just celebrate the summer.
Well, the people over at Groundspeak want to get in on that action and have set up a collection of Geocaching Road Trip quests for dedicated geocachers to explore the history of geocaching, discover new things and celebrate 15 years of geocaching. Oh, and did I mention that you’ll get souvenirs for your trouble? Yeah, I know what I’m doing this summer.
There are a total of five geocaching quests, and if you collect all five souvenirs before the September 2 deadline, then you will a sixth extra-special souvenir to commemorate your very own Geocaching Road Trip!
Here are the road trip challenges and dates:
- June 19 – Sept 2: Find a geocache with 10 or more Favorite Points
- July 3 – Sept 2: Attend an Event, Mega-Event or Giga-Event
- July 17 – Sept 2: Find a T5 or D5 geocache
- July 31 – Sept 2: Find an EarthCache or attend a CITO
- August 14 – Sept 2: Find a Mystery Cache
Of course, these are still a few weeks out, so if you’re like me and tend to forget about things, then Groundspeak has you covered yet again. Right now you can sign up for a “co-pilot” and get notifications and helpful tips for completing each challenge in your email.
Personally, I’m not sure about the T5/D5 challenge myself, but I’m going to give it a go! So, are you up for the challenge?
