Get Two Geocaching Souvenirs on Pi Day

Everyone loves pie–all that sweet, delicious fruity, gooey, sugary filling stuffed between two flaky golden crusts of amazing. Pie is pretty much the best. But, what about Pi? For years, this irrational number has spawned an surprisingly rational national celebration of pie, math and, of course, more pie.

Well, this year’s Pi day happens to this Saturday and it isn’t just ANY Pi day–it’s the first time in a century that the date (3/14/15) falls perfectly in line with the actual irrational number (3.1415…). So, to celebrate this most auspicious Pi day, the folks over at Geocaching HQ have declared that there are not one, but two souvenirs available to intrepid Pi-loving geocachers out there!

Here’s how you can nab your own:

  • Join your fellow Geocachers in celebrating Pi Day by attending a CITO or Mega-Event on Pi Day. Don’t have one in your area? Organize your own!
  • While we may never completely unravel the mysteries of irrational numbers like Pi, you can do instead take this day to solve a mystery cache and log a “found it” on March 14

If you’ve never done a mystery cache before, it might sound a little bit daunting, but don’t worry! You don’t have to be Sherlock to figure out the clues. Check out this Geocaching Blog post full of tips for finding and solving your own mystery geocache!

Once you’ve completed both tasks, then it’s time to sit back, relax and celebrate your two new souvenirs–which a slice of pie, of course!
