UPDATE: Read my GPS for trucks page.

UPDATE 2: This model has been discontinued, although the nuvi 465LMT is still available.

The Garmin nüvi 465T is the company’s first GPS designed for long-haul navigation and delivery trucks. The 465T will support multiple truck profiles, selecting routes based upon restrictions such as height, width, length, weight and hazardous materials. Truckers will be able to enter their truck’s dimensions and load restrictions, with the nuvi adjusting many routes based on the customized truck profile and available map data.

The 465T will also display warning information for upcoming road conditions to help aid driver awareness of possible truck hazards along the route such as sharp curves, steep grades, road narrows and more. nuvi-465T-clearance

The unit is also the first navigation device to provide locations in the National Truck and Trailer Services (NTTS) Breakdown Directory, a comprehensive guide to semi-truck repair facilities nationwide – including those offering 24-hour road service. With over 30,000 repair and heavy duty towing services for the continental United States, this preloaded guide allows drivers to easily find truck-specific points of interest, such as truck repair, towing and recovery, tire sales and repair, glass repair, fuels stops and more. nuvi-465T-prohibited

I have been using the 465t for 2 weeks. I am not impressed. Can not use the directions it provides to businesses in major cities. It will give you route solutions that you can’t follow. You can’t change the route either. If you import a map with all the right turns the 465t will change the route to what it showed previously. I have to find businesses the tried and true way. Call the business and get directions and listen to the 465t say “recalculating”. What a complete waste of money.

  2. Rich Owings says:

Imported routes behave differently when transferred to the device. This is a well known problem with MapSource & nuvis.

Sorry to hear it’s not working out. You can add a via point to perhaps force a different route, but it’s far from the ideal solution.

  3. unit is worthless if you want interstate only and not a zillion state roads. was in washing dc and the thing wanted me to drive on the service road right next to the interstate I was on. You must use a map and when there are more options and you have got on the route yourself it will then and only then conform to a all interstate route. I have toured many a neighborhood by driving solely on this things directions. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

  4. First trip with the NUVI 765, and for the money it is very dissapointing. The GPS on my cell phone is more user friendly and helpful. Cannot edit and am unable to get the second destination I submitted.

  5. Have you tried setting the avoidence options if it’s like other garmins there is an option in the setting to avoid U turns, unpaved roads, toll roads, ferrys Ect. look for these options and put a check mark in all but interstate and toll roads and it will then only route you on interstate and toll roads and will only use secondary roads when there is no other way to your destination and when you are arriving at your destination.

I just returned a Garmin 465T The car mode part is great. BUT the Truck Mode is very bad Garmin should pull them off the market till they fix the truck Routing part of it Which is from NTTS. There are alot of things wrong with the Truck Mode part of this GPS. The trucking Rounting part is so bad you are better off using the car mode when your in a truck
