Garmin has announced their lightest handheld golf GPS yet, the Approach G6, coming in at just over three ounces. The G6 has an internal rechargeable battery and comes pre-loaded with over 25,000 worldwide courses.

Said to be small enough to fit in your shirt pocket, the new Approach appears to be based on the Edge 800 hardware platform, which would make it 2.0″ x 3.7″ x 1.0″.

Previous Approach models have featured pre-loaded courses for only the US and Canada, so the worldwide course database is a bit of a step up for those of you travelling the globe in search of links. If that’s you, you won’t have to wait long. The Approach G6 is expected to hit the market in February, at an MSRP of $299.99.
