GPS technology can be a wonderful tool for finding you way around, but sometimes you just have to follow your instincts and pay attention. Blindly following the calm computer voice can lead to trouble, like driving into the ocean or getting your car stuck on the train tracks–something a pizza delivery driver in Michigan likely won’t forget.
In 2011, a 23-year-old pizza delivery driver in Niles, Michigan was blindly following his GPS late one night. He was attempting to turn from Cleveland Avenue on to Elgin St. and ended up stranded on the train tracks as an Amtrack train came barreling towards him. The driver grabbed the pizzas and escaped the car before the train impacted, reducing the car to a twisted mess.
The driver, train passengers and, most importantly, the pizzas were all unharmed.
