UPDATE: In addition to my hands on review of the nuvi 2460LT, I’ve now posted pages for the Garmin nuvi 2450, nuvi 2450LM, and the nuvi 2460LMT.
The 5” Garmin nuvi 24xx series has hit the market, and I suspect they are going to be quite popular. I was certainly very impressed with the nuvi 2460LT I recently reviewed. The custom avoidances and advanced detour features are welcome additions, and I expect many folks will consider the 24xx models the top of the line, since they seem to focus on function while the 37xx is more about style. Here’s where you can grab one:
Model (Garmin web page) | Amazon | GPS City |
---|---|---|
Garmin nuvi 2450 | In stock (3rd party) | Expected 3/21 |
Garmin nuvi 2450LM | In stock (3rd party) | In stock |
Garmin nuvi 2460LT | In stock | In stock |
Garmin nuvi 2460LMT | In stock (3rd party) | In stock |
And for what it’s worth, the 2460 series adds Bluetooth and voice commands, while the suffix LT means lifetime traffic, LM gets you lifetime map updates and LMT offers (you guessed it) both lifetime map updates and traffic.
Have a tomtom but am interested in reading about this Garmin with a nice review by Rich. It might be time to look at garmin again to see how they compare to tomtom.
They have definitely been slowly but surely adding more customization. I don’t think trafficTrends is as good as IQ Routes yet though.
Rich,
Curious as to how you think the 2460 compared to the 5 inch 1490…..
I’d go for the 2460. The new features are just too compelling, especially custom avoidances and advanced detours.
