Here is a list of current GPS deals

You may not be able to get it by the 24th without paying extra, but GPS City has the Garmin Oregon 450 on sale for $199.95, a few cents less than the best price we’ve ever seen on this unit. They even include free shipping. There’s no formal expiration date, so we don’t know how long the deal will last. If you see that it’s gone, please drop a comment below.

The Garmin Oregon 450 is a touchscreen handheld unit that is consistently one of our top-ranked models. I prefer touchscreen units for true handheld use (hiking, geocaching, etc.), as opposed to fix mount use like biking. The 450 has better visibility than the first-generation Oregons, and offers features such as paperless geocaching, a tri-axial electronic compass, custom dashboards, advanced track navigation and the ability to load custom maps and BirdsEye aerial imagery.

  1. Field notes are great for keeping track of where you pick up and place trackables. I often don’t get around to logging trackables before I drop them so when I place them in a cache I add the TB number in the field note. That way I can log them when I am back at the computer.

  2. Looks like its back up to $279.95
