Best selling GPS for March 2014

Top ten GPS for March 2014

The Garmin nuvi 2597LMT, Oregon 450 & eTrex 30 were our most popular auto & handheld units last month

It’s that time again — when we look back to see which GPS models were purchased by our readers last month.

The rankings below are based on the number of units sold on GPS Tracklog through our various partners like Amazon and REI. On the auto side, the Garmin nuvi 2597LMT returned to the top spot for the first time in seven months, while the company’s eTrex 30 and Oregon 450 tied for the top handheld spot. On to the charts…

About the numbers

One last note — while I do get aggregate reports each day on what purchases folks make through my site, I have no way of knowing who made them. When you follow my links, I get a small fee with each purchase you make (it comes out of the merchant’s pocket, not yours). This is the only way I can justify the time and effort it takes to manage GPS Tracklog. Thank you for your support, which allows me to keep bringing you the latest GPS reviews, news, tips and tricks!

  1. I have a garmin78s and love it. I am also learning how to use my GPS in conjunction with a map and compass. I have changed the setting from Lat./Long. to UTM. I also changed the North Reference to True from Magnetic. My question is, in the position format, do I change my Map Datum to NAD27 Canada or Nad 83. My maps show North American Datum 1927.

I’m a 52 year old male looking for a hand held gps for hunting, I mainly hunt Texas. I was looking at the Garmin Dakota 20, 62s or the etrex30. What would you suggest?

    • Don’t get a 62s unless you feel lucky. Bought one 2 days ago and it was full of fatal bugs such as: randomly going into a power off mode countdown, emergency archiving of active data and locking up, and sometimes just turning off after announcing that external power has been lost, even though I was on fully charged batteries. Their tech support is non existent to me. So I brought it back and now have concerns about Garmin quality. I have an old Etrex summit that I like, also has a power off glitch that rarely occurs but I can live with it. I’m in the same boat as you, but I know I am NOT getting a 62s, and will definitely be running the crap out of whatever I get before the 30 day refund period is up so I don’t get another lemon.
