This week in GPS is a weekly link roundup of (mostly) GPS related odds and ends, from GPS Tracklog and other places around the Web. To get a few of the biggest stories as they break, follow me on Twitter.

- Garmin firmware updates this week: eTrex 10,20,30; nuvi 2xx7, 35×7
- Head-Up Display Market to Expand by Factor of Seven
- The HUD cleared the FCC and the pic below made me think the hinge was about adjusting the display for windshield angle, but looking at the pics above, it may be the built-in display
Other portable head-up displays are available in the U.S. aftermarket but are limited to displaying speed, RPMs, battery voltage, engine temperature, tire pressure and the like when plugged into a vehicle’s OEM OBD-II port. Some display only speed as calculated by an internal GPS receiver.
And focusing on the business implications:
…it will be worth looking into the IP and patent fine print that are sure to accompany Garmin’s new technology. If the company, somehow, can make this HUD on windshield technology its and its alone, it’s going to mean even more cash in the bank for Garmin.
