Garmin-Forerunner-610Garmin has unveiled its first touchscreen sportswatch, the Garmin Forerunner 610. This new top of the line GPS watch eliminates the much-criticized touch bezel of the 410 and 405 series, opting for a touchscreen and three physical buttons instead, while still keeping a slim profile. Other new features of note include a magnetic charging cable and a virtual racer that allows you to race against previous runs (or other people’s runs downloaded from Garmin Connect).

TomTom has announced that their new GO product line, including the TomTom GO 2535 M LIVE with HD traffic, is now shipping in the US. Initially sales will be limited to TomTom.com, Amazon, and BestBuy, though the latter appears to be the only one with the product in stock yet. And while opinions vary on how good HD traffic will be, the first reviewer at BestBuy.com sounds happy…

GLONASS-KIs there a GLONASS receiver in your future? You may be more motivated if you live at a northerly latitude. A Swedish firm, Swepos, which demands one-meter accuracy for their work, has integrated the Russian system into their operations, saying…

"It functions somewhat better at northern latitudes because its satellite orbits are located higher in the sky and we see them better than we do the GPS satellites," said Bo Jonsson, deputy head of a geodesic research unit at Swepos.
