It’s time again to take a look back to see which models our readers have bought over the past month.
The rankings below are based on the number of units sold on GPS Tracklog through our various partners like Amazon and REI. On the auto side, the Garmin nuvi 50LM returned to the top spot, while the Oregon 450 got top billing on the handheld side. One interesting note — I don’t have category here for it, but if I considered the Garmin GTU 10 tracking unit a handheld, it would have come in in second place. On to the charts…
Top selling auto GPS

Top selling sport and handheld GPS
I’ve only included the top three on the handheld side, as there was only a single unit of each model sold for those in the next position.
About the numbers
One last note — while I do get aggregate reports each day on what purchases folks make through my site, I have no way of knowing who made them. When you follow my links, I get a small fee with each purchase you make (it comes out of the merchant’s pocket, not yours). This is the only way I can justify the time and effort it takes to manage GPS Tracklog. Thank you for your support, which allows me to keep bringing you the latest GPS reviews, news, tips and tricks!
I am retired, love to fish every day. I need a GPS that I can mark the ramp at a lake and mark some places on the lake I am on so I can return the next day. Some times it is hard to do the next day. also if I get fog in while I am on the lake, I can get back to the ramp. I don’t need a real expensive unit, I can`t afford one. Plus I need on that is very simple to operate, I can`t take my grand son with me every day to operate the unit.
Thank you for your time and help,

All handhelds have a significant learning curve, but I would look at the Garmin eTrex 10 for a cheap option, the eTrex 20 or GPSMAP 62s for a unit that can load maps or the GPSMAP 78s for a more ideal boating model. If you do end up getting one, this may help, especially the Handheld GPS 101 series: http://gpstracklog.com/handheld-gps-faqs
Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Happy Holidays
