New Nike+ Sportwatch models and colors, price drop too
TomTom and Nike have announced new versions of the Nike+ Sportwatch, bringing new colors, an entry-level model, and a price drop. The new model, pictured above, comes without a shoe sensor for indoor use, which is included with all the other models. read more
How to transfer Garmin map downloads after your subscription expires
I’ve accumulated quite a few Garmin map downloads over the last few years. Some, like City Navigator or Rails to Trails maps, can be downloaded for a year from the purchase date. Others, like BirdsEye imagery, are offered as an annual subscription. Many of us were reassured about the latter when Garmin told us that “imagery downloaded to your device or a micro-SD card does not expire if your subscription lapses.” Ah, but the devil is in the details.
Motorcycle-friendly Garmin zumo 350LM announced

As we predicted last month, Garmin has introduced a new motorcycle-friendly navigator, the Garmin zumo 350LM. The 4.3″ unit offers Bluetooth and new features like Exit Services and TracBack, at an MSRP of $699.99. So much for my theory that this was a mid-range model! read more

The rankings below are based on the number of units sold on GPS Tracklog and our sister site, GPS Deals, through our various partners like Amazon and REI. Of course, more auto units are sold than handhelds, so you’ll see more ties in the latter category. On to the charts…
TomTom wants to send you to map an uncharted island
Now this is what I call a contest. Not content to do the normal GPS giveaway, TomTom has ramped it up, with a contest to send five families or groups of friends to map a tropical island for two weeks. Their “Map Paradise Project” will create new navigable maps for Fiji, St. Lucia, Mauritius, Cape Verde, and the Seychelles. Not only will they cover the winners’ expenses, they’re going to pay each group $15,000 to boot.
7″ Magellan RoadMate Commercial 9270T-LM announced
Magellan has just announced the 7″ RoadMate Commercial 9270T-LM navigator for trucks. The big-screen unit comes with an extended windshield mount, and allows routing based on the height, weight, width and length of the vehicle, and any hazmat restrictions. read more
