Here’s the list, followed by a look at which older models remain… read more

Garmin discontinues much of nuvi 1xxx line
Garmin has discontinued much of their popular nuvi 1xxx line ahead of the holidays. Introduced in March 2009, these units were getting quite dated. All 5″ models survived the cut except for the 1490T. Similarly, all LMT units survived save the 1300LMT. Their strategy here appears to be keeping the top sellers in the 1xxx line available. read more

UPDATE: I’ve just been informed by Garmin that the 140T and 150T appeared on their US website by accident and that they “don’t have any plans to launch these units in the U.S.”
Well this is interesting — the Garmin nuvi 140T and 150T have shown up on the company’s US website. Recently announced for Europe, the 140T and 150T have a built-in TMC traffic receiver and are not dependent upon one integrated into the power cable. read more

7″ Garmin dezl 760 offers truckers big screen and active lane guidance
UPDATE: Read our Garmin dezl 760LMT review page.
As I predicted, Garmin has chosen not to cede the 7″ truck/RV market to Magellan, as they have just announced the Garmin dezl 760. Updating the dezl 560 series, this behemoth offers more than just a big screen. Like recent nuvis, it can utilize Smartphone Link to send all sorts of data to the unit from an Android smartphone, such as weather, fuel prices and traffic camera images. read more
