It looks like REI.com has beaten everyone to the punch, and is now shipping the Garmin Oregon 600 and 600t. GPS City anticipates having them next week; Amazon usually lags a few weeks behind these guys. A lot of folks seem to be excited about these new models; perhaps you can see why in my post on the Oregon 600 series.

I’ve posted links to free international maps before, but it’s been awhile. Here’s a new site I came across that offers free European maps, including topo maps, for Garmin devices. The maps are routable and include 25 meter contour intervals. read more

UPDATE: The new format may just be a compressed .gpx file (speculation, but it makes sense). Also,  apparently the new Oregons will support .gpx files:

The Oregon can hold an unlimited number of geocaches and supports GPX files from OpenCaching.com for downloading geocaches and details straight to the unit.
