nu Feature: Via point data fields

Via-point-dataHey, what do you know! While testing the Garmin nuvi 2350LMT, I found yet another new feature. You know how you can touch the left data field on newer models to change what is displayed? There are now three new options when actively navigating: Via Arrival, Distance to Via and Time to Via. And as with the 13xx and 14xx series, if you go to Tools > Settings > Navigation > Automobile > Map Data Layout > More Data (whew!), you can get more fields to show up on the right, as pictured above. I like the Via Arrival option; quite useful!

These models have been eagerly awaited, as most include many of the top of the line features from the 3700 series without the astronomical price. That includes trafficTrends, Garmin’s historical road speed database for improved routing and myTrends, allowing the device to learn your preferred routes. Plus a new feature – the ability to correct speed limits. Follow the jump link for sources and a summary of the differences between models.

Garmin nuvi 3760LMT

The Garmin nüvi 3760LMT, adds lifetime map updates to the nuvi 3760T, a low end unit in what is possibly Garmin’s nicest line of navigators to date. But this is not an entry level unit; in addition to many of the goodies found on previous high-end models, the 3700 series nuvis are the first to use historical road speeds to calculate the fastest route. And with its 4.3” glass screen and minimalist 0.35” thickness, it resembles an iPhone more than past nuvis.
