The Garmin nüvi 1350T is a mid-range unit in a line of Garmin GPS navigators introduced in 2009 (here is a list of more recent nuvi introductions), offering lane assist and lifetime traffic. All of the new units in the 1200, 1300 and 1400 series come with customizable data fields and the ability to utilize the pedestrian and mass transit features on Garmin’s CityXplorer maps. They also have text-to-speech, so you’ll hear “drive one-half mile, then turn left on Elm Street,” instead of just “drive one-half mile, then turn left.”

The Garmin nüvi 1390T is a high-end unit in a line of Garmin GPS navigators introduced in 2009 (here is a list of more recent nuvi introductions). It offers lane assist, junction view (seen above), lifetime traffic, and Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone use. All of the new units in the 1200, 1300 and 1400 series come with customizable data fields and the ability to utilize the pedestrian and mass transit features on Garmin’s CityXplorer maps. They also have text-to-speech, so you’ll hear “drive one-half mile, then turn left on Main Street,” instead of just “drive one-half mile, then turn left.”

Magellan RoadMate 1475T with lifetime traffic

Magellan has announced the RoadMate 1475T, their first product with lifetime traffic. The 1475T is identical to the RoadMate 1470 I recently (and favorably) reviewed, with the addition of the traffic receiver. It carries a suggested retail price of $299 and will be available immediately.

Garmin CityXplorer review

I went to Atlanta this past weekend, armed with a nuvi 1490T and the Atlanta edition of Garmin’s new CityXplorer maps. And I have to say, I was quite impressed. I’m blessed with a good sense of direction (though I find it much easier to lose N, S, E and W in the city), but I’m not a real urbanite. I can probably count the number of times I’ve ridden a subway / light rail on one hand. So I had some nervousness about leaving my car behind and venturing into the city via MARTA, with only a nuvi to guide me. It turns out that my fears were misplaced. Quite simply, CityXplorer rocks. Garmin nuvi 465T review

The Garmin nüvi 465T is the company’s first GPS designed for long-haul navigation and delivery trucks. The 465T will support multiple truck profiles, selecting routes based upon restrictions such as height, width, length, weight and hazardous materials. Truckers will be able to enter their truck’s dimensions and load restrictions, with the nuvi adjusting many routes based on the customized truck profile and available map data.
