Like the super-thin nuvi 37xx series, but want lifetime maps? Well Garmin has you covered. Without any fanfare, these two new models have crept onto the scene and are beginning to hit store shelves, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Here’s the links:
UPDATE: I’ve confirmed that the XL 335SE is exclusive to Walmart, Walmart Canada and Walmart.com.
Walmart has let their Black Friday ad leak, and they have a special edition navigator in the line up, the TomTom XL 335SE for $79 (that link goes to a refurbished one, though they should have new ones up by sometime next week). They will also have the TomTom EASE for $59, but since that one is better known, I want to focus on what to expect with the XL 335SE.

I started hearing rumors about this a few months ago, and today we have confirmation; Magellan portable navigation devices (and apparently apps too) are switching from NAVTEQ maps to Tele Atlas. The Tele Atlas agreement covers other MiTAC owned brands as well – Mio and Navman. It remains to be seen how smoothly the switchover will go, as some early concerns have been posted at GpsPasSion by a few Maggie owners who received the new maps in a recent update.
Garmin has partnered with the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) to offer six regional mapping packages at $9.99 a pop. You can preview coverage at RTC’s TrailLink site (which offers free .gpx downloads, BTW!). Here are links to the Garmin maps:

The Garmin nuvi 1300LMT is a BestBuy Black Friday 2010 exclusive. It adds lifetime map updates and traffic to the popular Garmin nuvi 1300. A mid-range unit in a line of Garmin GPS navigators introduced in 2009 (here is a list of more recent nuvi introductions), it offers a 4.3” widescreen and comes pre-loaded with maps of the entire United States with the exception of Alaska.
