The Garmin nuvi 1300LM adds lifetime map updates to the popular Garmin nuvi 1300. A relatively low-end unit in a line of Garmin GPS navigators introduced in 2009 (here is a list of more recent nuvi introductions), albeit one with a 4.3” widescreen, it comes pre-loaded with maps of the entire United States with the exception of Alaska.
Owners of some TomTom units with the EASE interface (XL 350 series, XL 550 series and XL 335 LE, LM & SE models, but apparently not the EASE itself) might want to connect their units to the TomTom HOME app on their computers. A new firmware update will add the following features:

It’s been a few days since a batch of nu Garmins were announced, and I finally have some details for you. Let’s start off with a quick look at some nu Garmin marketing jargon.
Garmin has apparently dropped the LMU (lifetime maps updates) designation, in favor of LTs (lifetime traffic), LMs (lifetime maps) and LMTs (lifetime maps and traffic). Hopefully, this will avoid any confusion with TomTom’s TM units, which stands for lifetime traffic and maps (though I wonder how many people think it means trademark).

Garmin announced two new budget series today, the nuvi 2200 and 2300 product lines. Both come equipped with multi-destination routing, as well as the trafficTrends (historical road speed database) and myTrends features recently introduced on the nuvi 3700 series. The 2200 series will will utilize a 3.5” touchscreen, while the 2300 series will have a 4.3” screen and allow users to “preview multiple routes.” Models with an LT designation will include lifetime traffic.

I started seeing reports recently that the Garmin nuvi 3700 series will learn your preferred route, once you have deviated from a suggested route several times. I’m a bit surprised that Garmin didn’t hype this aspect of their myTrends feature, but they seem to take a low key approach and not highlight some features (like the fact that your nuvi takes into account your driving habits when calculating your ETA).
